Maybe you’re old, maybe you’re young. Maybe rich, poor, short, or tall.

You could be black, brown, white. Perhaps you are Greek, American, Ethiopian, Korean.

It’s possible you are a talented athlete, a combat veteran, a lifelong yogi.

We have no way of knowing if you are any or none of these things, but we do know one thing beyond any doubt: you are an Earthling. Even more than that, you are a Laniakean.

We are all Laniakean.

Each of us Earthlings make our home in the Laniakea Supercluster. Laniakea is a Hawaiian term for open skies or immense heaven. It is the Galactic Supercluster that is home to the Milky Way - our galaxy - and approximately 100,000 other nearby Galaxies. Just like each of us, it is expected that one day Laniakea will cease to exist.

There are lessons for us in this, if only we will open ourselves to them. Our Laniakean connection is universal - we are not simply bound by the deep ties we share as human beings, or as Earthlings, profound as those may be. We are not even bound solely by our galactic connections as fellow travelers in the Milky Way. When we really zoom out, our connection is larger still: we are Laniakean, and we are all one.

It is the mission of Laniakean Supply to serve as a reminder to each of us that our connections far surpass our distinctions. We cherish the rich diversity of life on this planet - human and otherwise - that makes our home in this universe so special. We seek to illuminate the connections we share with one another and that we far too often forget to recognize.
